You don’t have to reach the heights in the Klopeiner See - Südkärnten region, but you are more than welcome to do so. Our network of hiking trails covers an unmatched magnificent 800 kilometres, at elevations from 440 to 2,139 metres above sea level. Grazing the Saualpe to the north and the majestic Karawanken to the south. Marathon hikers can take on the challenge of the Way of St. James between Neuhaus, St. Kanzian and Gallizien.
The Karawanken, meanwhile, are a playground for just about all those who like to stroll around on foot. Families want for nothing in the hiking area of the Petzen, as well as the stunning Obir stalactite caves in the Unterschäffler Alps (1,078 metres). You can take on the peaks alone or accompanied by certified mountain guides. Challenges worth considering include the two-thousand metre Hochobir (2,139 metres), the Feistritzer peak (2,113 metres), the Kordeschkopf (2,126 metres) or the Steiner Alps on the Slovenian border.
