For while the man in the relationship often likes to scale the peaks by the sweat of his brow, women may well want to take things more enjoyably and just join in the downhill stretch. And it’s that simple: He can head off fully equipped on a tour with a difference in altitude of up to 1,500 metres, while she can travel in comfort by taking the transfer up to the summit. On the airy heights they can both enjoy a delicious picnic together with specialities from the Jaun Valley gourmet region and then set off for the zippy ride down back into the valley. There is a very varied range of routes on offer, whether it is the stretch on the Hochobir (1,300 metres difference in altitude, approx. 60 km), one of the loveliest mountain viewpoints in Carinthia, the Petzen tour (1,100 metres difference in altitude, approx. 60 km) or for example the route up to the Luschasattel (850 metres difference in altitude, approx. 50 km), on the heights of which stands a privately built church.
And what’s more: If you ring the bell, your wish will come true. One more reason for heading up there. An exciting tip for all the family (for children over 10) is mining gallery biking, where adventurous cyclists can set off on a journey of discovery in the abandoned mine in the Petzen mountain. Kitted out with a helmet and a headlamp you can cycle through the mining gallery together with your guide, and then round off your trip through the mine with a visit to the mining museum.
