With more than 800 kilometres of hiking routes at heights of 440 to 2,139 metres, a unique landscape is open to hikers between the Saualpe to the north and the Karawanken to the south.

Das Jauntal und die Karawanken
Summiteers can tackle the two thousand metre peaks such as the Hochobir, the summits of the Petzen massif (Feistritzer Spitze, 2,113 metres; Kordeschkopf (Slovenia) 2,126 metres) or the peaks of the Steiner Alps on the Slovenian border, either alone or accompanied by certified mountain guides. The ideal starting place to find your way round the Karawanken is the Bad Eisenkappel “centre of hiking excellence” in the Vellach Valley nature region.
Here high fliers can discover a climbing centre, and there is also a climbing tower in St. Michael. Further fixed rope routes await on the Petzen (Walter-Mory-Klettersteig), on the Lärchenturm and on the Türkenkopf – Southern Carinthia climbing paradise.
