And wine is also grown in Southern Carinthia – including in the Lake Klopeiner See – Southern Carinthia region. As nowhere else gets as many hours of sunshine as here, together with the Mediterranean climate the conditions are ideal for wine growing.
Buckwheat, or “Had'n” as it is known colloquially, has a long tradition in Carinthia.
Jauntal salami, "Had'n" (buchkwheat), fish, wine from Sittersdorf and the Trixnertal Valley, schnapps, farmers' beer, oils and herbs - they all make holidays in the region a true culinary experience.
